The internal medical department was founded in 1977 by Prof Hadok. It is one of the largest departments at KAU and the largest at the faculty of medicine at KAU. The Medical department covers the specialty of internal medicine and wide ranges of all subspecialties of internal medicine. Medical is representing the biggest department in the area of the patient care service at KAUH at covers internal Medicine and other subspecialties subspecialties
About Us
Surgical research Unit is created under surgery department with the aim to re-organize surgical research activities and create research training opportunities.
Our Vision

Values
Research Training Program
The surgical research unit will be receiving a continuous flow of trainees who are interested in research. The unit will provide the trainees with the necessary research tools and to improve their skills through continuous mentoring and guidance.
Mentors
The training program will be staffed by the Division of General Surgery members who is willing to involve actively in researches and mentoring. The mentors will be required to register in the Researchgate.com and to show their interest in the research training.
Trainees
The unit will be working jointly with the surgical department to assure a continuous flow of trainees who will be coming from Surgical residency program, internship and surgical medical students as well. We expect them to learn basic research tools and skill that will be enabling them to advance their knowledge and ability in surgery. Through this program, the trainees will be matched to appropriate mentors who meet their needs and answer their requirements. The trainees will be evaluated based on their involvement and their productivity as well.
Monthly meeting of the unit
The unit with all of their members will be meeting on a regular basis to discuss and evaluate the research projects. This is a very great opportunity for both trainees and mentors to discuss their issues with the unit. We will be assuring that the research project to meet the requirement of ethic committee, study design and other methodology issues.
Annual Surgical Research Day
The surgical research unit will be organizing an annual research day, during which, our research projects will be presented and will be selecting the best of them to present our department in national and international events.
The trainees and their mentors will be invited for such opportunity as an avenue to communicate and to discuss their work with their peers.
Unit Responsibility

* To match the students with the appropriate mentors
* To equip the research team with necessary research skills and tools through conducting a monthly meeting with epidemiologist, English editor, biostatistician and the research teams.
