First Ethics Committee Meeting

The Ethics Committee has organized their first open forum meeting last 11/05/2016G in the main auditorium of the University Hospital. The meeting was attended by various health practitioners within the University Hospital. The meeting started 10:00am and finished around 12:30pm. The meeting was opened by the Vice Dean University Hospital Director, Dr. Amro AlHibshi, and delivered his speech in which he noted that the role of the Ethics Committee, importance of communicating with the Ethics Committee when in doubt, and the Ethics Committee’s availability to all employees of the University Hospital. In the meeting, Dr. Al Al-Faidy, Chairman of Ethics Committee, conducted a lecture regarding the role of the ethics committee. He explained that the committee has a dedicated automated system in the hospital in which anyone can request advice from the committee both in Arabic or English language. After the lecture, Dr. Ali presented some medical dilemmas to the participants to test them on how to react to certain dilemmas and debated the pros, cons, and the proper solution to resolve the dilemma.
