Successful Operation of a Pediatric Congenital Cardiac Disease performed at King Abdulaziz University Hospital

A Pediatric Cardiology Team at King Abdulaziz University Hospital conducted a successful restorative operation to a child suffering from a condition in which the patients was born with her heart outside the rib cage. For the first time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, A rare congenital heart disease was manifested from a baby girl born with her hearth outside the rib cage. The baby girl was transferred directly to the Department of Pediatric Cardiology at King Abdulaziz University Hospital in Jeddah, where Dr. Osman Radi, Supervisor of the Case and the Head Consultant of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery; Dr. Osama Al-Rayes, Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Consultant; Dr. Ibrahim Al-Khatib, anesthesia consultant; and the pediatric cardiac surgery team performed an urgent operation to restore the baby girl’s hearth into its natural place. After the operation, Dr. Osman Radi has confirmed that the operation was a success and the patient is now stable. May we wish the patient a speedy recovery.
