World Blood Donation Day - Blood Unites Us All 2016

The Blood Bank Unit has organized the World Blood Donation Day, under the Auspice of King Abdulaziz University President, Prof. Abdulrahman Obaid Alyoubi, which was held in King Fahd Research Center last 19/08/1437H (26/05/2016G).

The slogan of the campaign for this year is “Blood Unites Us All” with a logo “Add life, Donate Blood” which focuses on thanking blood donors; the impact made by the blood donors to the patients; and explaining the importance of voluntary donation system to encourage people to take care of each other and to strengthen the cohesion of society.

The Program started with the reading of the Holy Quran. Followed by a speech from the Chairman of the Department of Blood Transfusion Services, Dr. Salwa Hindawi. The Chairman of Saudi Friend’s Charity for Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Anemia Society, Prof. Gazi Damanhouri, also presented his speech. Various sponsors also presented their speech stating their sincere appreciation for the campaign. Afterwards, video presentations were played regarding Thalassemia patients, “A Drop of Life” short documentary, 2015-2016 Blood donation campaign photos, and lastly “My Blood for Her Campaign”. Awarding ceremony commenced shortly after the video presentations, of which the Blood Bank Unit honors the donors and external agencies participated in the Blood Donation Campaign.
