King Abdulaziz University Hospital Clinical Skills Laboratory, under the supervision of Prof. Saleh Baeesa, Consultant and Head of Neurosurgery Division, have founded a workshop for Brain Ventricle Tube Insertion Simulation last 16/04/1437H (26/01/2016G)
This workshop was the first of its kind within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of which aims to train resident physicians specializing neurosurgery under the supervision of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
The workshop’s objectives was to enable the doctor to increase their capabilities in treating brain edema; to train doctors on how to insert a cerebral catheter correctly to achieve best results; and to further decrease additional health risks to the patient. The workshop used an interactive device called “Immersive Touch” which was brought from the University of Chicago in America in coordination with Dr. Abdulaziz Boker, the Head of the Clinical Skills Laboratory.
The workshop was attended by twenty-three (23) doctors coming from various training and government agencies all over the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Dr. Abdulrahman Al Sabbagh, Neurosurgery Consultant in King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah, and Dr. Iman AlJanabi, Training Center Consultant in King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh were among of the said twenty-three doctors who attended the workshop.
