Cleveland Clinic Hosts Four Medical Students From King Abdulaziz University

Four students from the Faculty of Medicine at King Abdulaziz University recently underwent an intensive training program for four weeks at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, the US was in December 2015.
Cleveland Clinic’s training program enables participants to observe procedures and surgeries, attend doctor’s daily rounds, and to attend scientific conferences.
In their fifth year of medical college at King Abdulaziz University, two medical students have attended the program last August and were enrolled in the Heart & Vascular Institute – the first student has taken vascular surgery, and the second in heart failure and cardiac transplantation. The other two students, Abdelaziz Addas and Nasser Al Sayegh, enrolled in general surgery and in colorectal surgery, respectively.
Abdulaziz Addas said, “I was overjoyed for this rewarding opportunity to learn from Cleveland Clinic’s physicians. It truly helped me shape my path towards specialization in general surgery. I made sure to observe as much information as possible from the best team in the field. In addition to the internships and training I did in local institutions in KSA, this opportunity at Cleveland Clinic is the cornerstone of my future career.”
Dr. Feza Remzi, Director of Cleveland Clinic’ Center of International Medical Education, said that It makes us proud to cooperate with educational institutions and medical schools in the Middle East especially King Abdulaziz University and helping the students to develop their skills.
One of the doctors from King Abdulaziz University commented, “We are proud that four of our current students visited Cleveland Clinic this summer. Such training programs and shadowing experience to some of the leading physicians worldwide add on to the students knowledge and helps them make an informed decision on the specialty they choose to continue in.
