Faculty of Medicine Launched 2015 World Glaucoma Week

Prof. Mahmoud Shaheen Al-Ahwal, Dean of Faculty of Medicine, led in the launching of the 2015 World Glaucoma Week together with Prof. Ahmad Bawazir, Chairman of Department of Ophthalmology; and Prof. Osama Baded, Head of Glaucoma Unit, and some faculty executives; last Thursday, 21/05/1436H (12/03/2015G). The campaign was organized by the Department of Ophthalmology and its aim was to give emphasis on the importance of early detection of glaucoma. Prof. Osama Badeb reported that this event was also conduct at Red Sea Mall in Jeddah and with a different slogan “Scan them… Reservation” The campaign highlighted the importance of early detection and signs of Glaucoma of which Glaucoma, at early stage, does not exhibit any signs. The campaign includes health educations, conducting eye examinations of the spectators making sure that they are “glaucoma free”, and if one was proved to have glaucoma, necessary treatments will be provided for them.
