World Diabetes Day

The Society of Diabetic Patient Friends in Jeddah and the Health Education Department of University Hospital have organized and celebrated the World Diabetes Day. The program was under the supervisions of the Dean of Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Mahmoud Shaheen Al-Ahwal; Vice Dean University Hospital Director, Dr. Amro AlHibshi; Finance Secretary of Society of Diabetic Patient Friends, Prof. Seraj Mira; and the supervisor of Society of Diabetic Patient Friends, Hanan Sarhan opened the medical exhibition. Medical education regarding diabetes was also conducted by a group of educators from the Society of Diabetic Patient Friends and the University Hospital to promote the World Diabetes Day.
The exhibit includes: How to treat diabetes in case of an increase or decrease in blood sugar, diabetic foot care, and promoting healthy nutrition to diabetic patients; a booth for testing blood sugar, which is one of the most important test for a diabetic patient; a lecture presented by Dr. Feryal Felemban, Family Medicine consultant in the University Hospital, regarding on how to avoid complications of diabetes with proper diet (proper nutrition, eating fat-free and low-salt foods), exercise, and taking medications regularly; a booth from the Faculty of Dentistry of which dental doctors presented a lecture regarding the importance of gum and dental care for diabetic patients.
The Society of Diabetic Patient Friends handed-out gift bags, which contains medication, sphygmomanometer, weighing scale) to the diabetic patients and to other people attended the program.
