The Day Care Unit of King Abdulaziz University Hospital is a (forty-one) 41-bedded ambulatory care unit that provides Pediatric, Medical, pre and post surgical care of elective and minor procedures that require short term hospitalization, i.e. from 0700 -1900hrs daily, Sunday to Thursday.
Day Care Unit patient population consists of neonatal, pediatric, young adult, adult and geriatric patients. It serves patients of all ages.
Services provided include but are not limited to: basic medical-surgical nursing care, pre and post operative care, radiologic procedures ,Chemotherapy administration, and pediatric care.
All patients for admission to the unit will be scheduled through the system by the attending doctor and verified by the admission department.
Patients are admitted between 0700-1000hrs. through direct admission to the unit or through Admission department.
Patients are admitted to the unit after confirming that an Informed Consent is taken, appropriate referrals were made , the necessary laboratory tests, x-ray and ECG procedures are done and appropriate, and that surgical patients were seen in the Pre-anesthesia clinic and are listed in the O.R list.
