Obstetrics Gynaecology Department

The Department offers a wide scope of services that address every healthcare phase of a woman’s experience throughout her lifetime – from reproductive care through the childbearing and post-menopausal years.
It functions as an Academic Department of King Abdulaziz University Hospital. It is composed of 24 full-time clinical faculty lead by the Interim Chair, Hassan Abduljabbar, M.D.,FRCS. Additionally we have 29 consultants, 4 senior registrar, 27 residents and 26 highly qualified midwifery staff.

Our experience, expertise and tradition of care make us a leader in maternity services in Saudi Arabia. Over 4,000 deliveries a year.
Physicians treat both healthy and high-risk pregnant women, as well as women of all ages. The department offers a full range of comprehensive, high-level maternity services with the presence of advance Practice Professional (physician assistants and nurse practitioners), including:
- Primatologists and genetic counselors
- Prenatal testing Neonatal intensive care unite
- Inpatient service for high risk pregnancies
- Educational classes/programs: childbirth, breastfeeding, baby care.
- We also provide the full range of obstetrical care for our population. Most "high risk" pregnancies can be seen here, though there are some cases where a woman's care is best accomplished elsewhere. This is determined by the staff physicians.
- Prenatal and breastfeeding classes are taught on a regular basis to prepare you for your new baby.

GYNECOLOGY SERVICES

Gynecologists are experts at addressing women’s unique health care problems, such as endometriosis, uterine fibroids, abnormal vaginal bleeding, pelvic pain and menopause. Services range from routine well-woman care to state-of-the-art diagnostic and surgical techniques, including:
- Evaluation and treatment of abnormal pap smears
- Family planning, including emergency contraception
- Laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and endometrial ablation
- Chronic or recurrent conditions of the vagina and vulva
- Transitioning through menopause and options for symptoms and long-term health

THE DIVISION OF MATERNAL-FETAL MEDICINE (MFM)

At KAUH, is a premiere patient care, teaching and research center. We provide the highest quality care for women experiencing complicated pregnancies in a multi-disciplinary setting with pediatric, surgery and anesthesia departments.
We provide pre-conception counseling, genetic counseling, prenatal diagnosis including comprehensive and targeted ultrasounds, first trimester screening, amniocentesis and percutaneous umbilical blood sampling, among others. Our expert faculty of three highly trained maternal-fetal medicine specialists have extensive experience in the management of the most complex maternal and fetal disorders, including fetal therapeutic procedures such as intrauterine fetal transfusions.
Mothers suffering from serious medical disorders such as epilepsy, preeclampsia, chronic hypertension, renal disease, heart disease, solid organ transplantation, systemic lupus erythematosus and diabetes are cared for routinely in our center. We also have extensive clinical experience in the management of preterm labor, cervical insufficiency and preterm premature rupture of membrane.

GYNECOLOGY ONCOLOGY

The Gynecologic Oncology unit at KAUH offers comprehensive cancer treatment using a multidisciplinary approach. We offer state of the art treatment modalities in a caring, personalized environment. Our patients benefit from the expertise of a highly experienced, interdisciplinary treatment team including Gynecologic Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, Medical Oncologists, Specialized Oncology Nurses and Social Workers. This team is dedicated to providing the best care while recognizing and helping with the emotional and social aspects of a cancer diagnosis. Stanford offers a multitude of support services for patients and their familie.

UROGYNECOLOGY SERVICES

is the diagnosis and treatment of problems of the pelvic floor include urodynamic study . Conditions treated by urogynecologists include prolapse of the uterus, vagina, bladder, urethra and rectum; urinary incontinence; fecal incontinence; recurrent urinary tract infections; difficulty voiding; excessive nighttime voiding; urinary frequency/urgency syndromes.

REPRODUCTIVE ENDOCRINOLOGY & ASSISTED REPRODUCTIVE TECHNOLOGY UNIT

The unit provides all assisted reproductive technology (ART) procedures including the state-of-the art technology, expertise, and procedures such as ICSI, TESA, PESA, and others.
