Inauguration of the Faculty of Medicine Community Service Unit

His Excellency Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Mahmoud Shaheen Al-Ahwal, with the presence of the Vice dean University Hospital Director, Chairman of various departments, and some hospital executives, led the inauguration ceremony of the Community Service Unit on Thursday, 16/11/1435H (11/09/2014G) at the main lobby of the University Hospital.
In his speech, Prof. Mahmoud Shaheen Al-Ahwal, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, told that the Community Service Unit’s objectives were to conduct awareness programs and health education campaigns to the community; supporting charity treatment programs of the University Hospital; encouraging doctors and medical students to participate in charity programs; providing free medical treatment to the indigent community; and lastly, providing support in rendering surgical operations and home care.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jameel Abdulaziz Al Ata told that many hardworking medical students of the College of Medicine have already undergone volunteer works together with the Community Service Unit. He also stated that the Unit shall support the younger generations in expressing each of their full potentials in order to serve the community to the fullest and to contribute to the future of medicine in Saudi Arabia.
The opening ceremony was then preceded with presentations by Dr. Jameel Abdulaziz Al Ata and Dr. Essam Kawther containing information regarding the Community Service Unit. A scientific exhibition was also organized that was attended by a various centers, associations, scientific chairs, medical departments, and some organizations supporting the Unit.
